Beatles Manila Ultra Rare Tour Program (Philippines, 1966). A 48-page souvenir tour program, printed entirely in English, measuring 7" x 10", printed for the two shows the Fab Four put on at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on July 4, 1966 during the band's tumultuous and terrifying trip to the Philippines. Inside the program you'll find song lyrics, cartoons, candid and on stage photos of the group, interviews, and a photo of Philippine opening act Pilita Corrales. In Fine condition, with very minor wear evident. From the Connie and Dennis Dailey Monumental Beatles Collection. The Beatles arrived in Manila after a stint in Japan on the afternoon of July 3, and the entire trip began to spiral out of control immediately. The band was seemingly kidnapped at the airport by an armed militia, and though protected, were held on a yacht and paraded around as party guests of a rich industrialist. After unintentionally snubbing the Philippine president and first lady, the Beatles played two shows on July 4 to a total of 80,000 screaming fans, but received death threats at their hotel and the British embassy from fierce loyalists to the president. When they finally reached the airport on July 5 after a terrifying trek through the city, they were assaulted by the same men who abducted them upon their arrival, with John and Ringo even receiving punches to the face. After more harassment and intimidation, the band was allowed to leave the country. They stopped in India for a two-day stay, and played their final concert over a month later at San Francisco's Candlestick Park. HID04901242017
