JIMMY SMITH TRIO
Description
Exceedingly scarce original double-sided first printing concert handbill advertising the legendary Jimmy Smith Trio at the Volkshaus in Zürich [Switzerland] on Wednesday, 27th November, 1968, presented by Migros. Born on 8th December, 1928, Jimmy Smith ruled the Hammond organ in the 1950’s and 1960’s. He revolutionized the instrument, showing it could be creatively used in a jazz context and popularized in the process. He turned the organ into almost an ensemble itself, playing walking bass lines and chordal accompaniment with his left hand, while solos were played with his right hand. Jimmy Smith passed away on 8th February, 2005.
The handbill measures 21.5 x 10.5 cm (approx. 8.5" by 4.1" inches) and is beautifully printed in black ink on thin, yellow light coated paper stock. In excellent unmarked condition. Please see both supersized images below for the exact condition of the handbill. Feel free to email us with any questions you may have regarding this item. Thank you.
