Description
Exceedingly scarce and highly collectible original first printing concert poster advertising American rock group STYX at the Stadthalle in Offenbach [Germany] on Tuesday, 30th May, 1978, presented by Albatros, and with DIRE STRAITS as special guests. The show in Offenbach was part of Styx’s Spring 1978 European tour in support of The Grand Illusion, their seventh studio album, released on 7th July, 1977. The album launched the band to stardom, spawning the hit singles “Come Sail Away” and “Fooling Yourself”, and selling over three million copies in the US alone. Prior to going on tour with Styx, Dire Straits had been busy at the Basing Street Studios in London recording their self-titled debut album, produced by Muff Winwood. Featuring the hit single “Sultans of Swing”, which reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100, the album was released on 7th October, 1978 and was certified double-platinum in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
The poster measures 59.2 x 83.8 cm (approx. 23.3 by 33 inches) and is printed on thin, coated paper stock. The poster has been neatly folded, with light wear along the fold lines and a small closed rip to the top left corner.
