Pulls smoothly and plays, but for best fidelity, pads should be replaced. Tapes in this class make fine “Collectables”, but if you actually listen to them, be aware that the deficient pads may result in a noticeable degradation in sound quality. This is an easy fix—but I’d rather just tell you up front and take a few bucks less rather than take it apart (and risk ending up with tape all over the floor).

All 8-track tapes are sold STRICTLY as collector’s items with NO guarantee concerning their operating condition. I generally do not “splice test” them. So in rare cases, a tape might separate when it hits the splice and foil strip. Another easy fix. Break out the screwdriver and the Scotch Tape!
