Columbia had just reluctantly released what turned into Willie Nelson's breakout with his first million selling album, the Grammy winning, Red Headed Stranger featuring the huge cross-over hit, Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain. On Sunday night, September 7th, 1975, Willie premiered his new off-the-wall album in two sold-out back-to-back shows at Austin's Historic Paramount Theater on Congress Avenue. The shows were a musically powerful live version of the Red Headed Stranger concept album, straight through from beginning to end. The graphic illustrations of the Stranger's story on the back cover of the Album were projected in bigger-than-life sequence on big screens behind Willie and the Family Band.
